Delyric Oracle Vanilla Sky

For The Fan Presents:

Delyric Oracle “Vanilla Sky” (2014) Review

There are so many hip hop records released through the year that it becomes difficult to get to all of them. Some stand out from others, and if you focus on the independent world, you really get art in the form of music. That’s what you get when you finally sit down to hear Delyric Oracle. On the release of “Vanilla Sky” you’re treated to a modernist effort, one akin to the art that you may not understand, but you will definitely call talented and unique. The delivery here is one that you’re going to stand back and just wonder, it’s the type of work that makes you think, because it’s different, refreshing, and downright unique.

Delyric Oracle presents tracks that range from all corners of hip hop’s musical endeavors. You will not be bored here, and she delivers rhymes in all sorts of tracks. From the first time you hear “Paper Beats” and move through the record, you will find that there is something here that you can’t really put your finger on. It’s that intangible quality that makes great artists, and this abstract comes together in a whole present through tracks like “For Real”, “What U Need”, “Rhythmic Justice”, “Do You Do You?” and more.

Whether you’re a huge hip hop fan, or you’re just a music fan in general, you’ll find that Delyric Oracle delivers something different. She’s not fitting in just one box, one style, or any sort of pattern. It’s very much like the abstract painters, she has given you a picture when you stand back far away, but when you get close, you realize that there’s genius here, and it’s interesting. It’s hard to pen a proper review of an artist that has presented a unique work, and that’s what you get with “Vanilla Sky”. You get a slice of modern hip hop, packaged in a unique art form, and it’s solid.

You’ll find that there are few rappers in the game that stick to the idea of art, and flow through all sorts of rhyme schemes and positions that will remind you that talent and music can come in many forms, not just one. It’s inspirational, iconic, and as I’ve said above, refreshing to see someone pushing through at all costs. The laid back flow, words that come at you, and the voice of a new generation all come through on this record. A solid outing, and something new for those that are tired of the same old contrived hip hop recordings being put out by major labels. You owe it to yourself to learn more about Delyric Oracle and hear her flow through conscious spaces.
